44c Solar feed-in Tariff ends in 2028!

  • If you joined Queensland's Solar Bonus Scheme before July 2012, you're on the 44c per kWh feed-in tariff. That rate ends on 1 July 2028. From that date, the power your solar sends to the grid will earn a fraction of what it does today. For most households, the solar that has been earning you money will stop covering your bill. The good news is you have time to plan, and HI Service Group can help.

  • Many 44c customers know they have a good deal but don't realise what happens when it ends. You go from making money off your solar to paying a bill. If the change isn't managed properly, that bill can be a big shock. Certain changes to your system before 2028, like adding panels beyond your inverter's capacity, can also cost you the 44c rate. Any work needs to be done by someone who knows the rules.

  • Best for customers who want to bank as much as possible before the rate ends. For a consulting fee, we will:

    1. Inspect your system and check how well it's performing.

    2. Explain exactly what you have, in plain language.

    3. Show you how to manage it so you export as much as possible.

    4. Bring it up to the HI Service Group health standard (cleaning, repairs or part replacement).

    5. Make sure any work keeps you eligible for the 44c rate.

  • Best for customers who don't want a big power bill after 2028. We look at how you use power and build a game plan around you, using your existing setup where possible. Options include new or upgraded solar, solar plus battery, or battery only.

  • We've been designing and installing solar and battery systems, on-grid and off-grid, for 10 to 15 years. We know the 44c rules and won't put your tariff at risk. Many customers start with Option 1 now and plan Option 2 as 2028 gets closer.
