Reverse Vending Machines

Hi Service Group supplies and supports Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) - Australian-made smart recycling units that collect beverage containers and return 10 cents per item to users under Australia's container deposit scheme.

Whether you're managing a shopping centre, running a local council, or looking to add a sustainability initiative to your workplace, we'll help you find the right solution and keep it running.

How it works?

Customers deposit their used beverage containers - cans, plastic bottles, glass, cartons, and more - directly into the machine. The unit scans, identifies, and sorts each container automatically, then issues a refund of 10 cents per eligible item. No staff required. No manual sorting. Just a seamless return experience that keeps containers out of landfill and puts money back in your community's hands.

Accepted containers include aluminium and steel cans, PET plastic bottles, HDPE bottles, glass bottles, and liquid paperboard cartons between 250ml and 3L.

Smart Technology

Every RVM is powered by AI-based shape recognition, 360-degree cameras, barcode scanning, weight measurement, and metal detection - ensuring accurate identification of every container deposited.

All units come with full IoT platform integration, providing real-time visibility across their machine network:

  • Live container count and bin capacity tracking

  • Custom alerts when bins are ready for collection

  • Remote on/off scheduling

  • Security camera monitoring directly from the platform

  • Maintenance tracking to minimise downtime

What We Offer

Solar-Powered Off-Grid RVM

Built for the reality of the Australian landscape - where long distances, remote locations, and the cost of running power cables can make traditional installation impractical or impossible. This unit operates entirely off the grid, powered by solar panels with lithium battery backup to ensure continuous operation even during extended periods of low sunlight.

No trenching. No electrician. No ongoing energy costs tied to the grid. Just a fully functional return point that can go anywhere the sun does. It's the ideal solution for locations that have historically been left out of container deposit infrastructure - regional shopping centres, outdoor event spaces, sporting grounds, beachside facilities, council parks, and rural community hubs.

Where a standard RVM would require significant site preparation and electrical work, the solar unit can be installed faster, at lower upfront cost, and with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment. Despite running off-grid, it carries the same smart technology as the full Ecoboxtec range - AI shape recognition, 360-degree camera system, barcode scanning, weight measurement, and metal detection - with full IoT platform integration for remote monitoring, bin capacity alerts, and maintenance tracking. Operators manage it from the same dashboard as any other unit in their network, regardless of how remote the location is.

Entry Point Configurations

The Solar-Powered Off-Grid RVM is available in three configurations to suit different volumes and site requirements:

1 Entry Point - ideal for lower-traffic locations, smaller community sites, or installations where space is limited. A streamlined footprint with full functionality.

2 Entry Points - suits medium-traffic environments such as suburban parks, mid-size sporting facilities, or regional retail precincts where throughput needs to be higher without a full multi-unit setup.

3 Entry Points designed for higher-volume sites or locations expecting strong community uptake. Three simultaneous deposit points reduce wait times and keep the user experience smooth even during peak periods. All configurations operate on the same solar and battery system, with capacity scaled to match the unit size.
